The benefits of CBD infused products and CBD massage are the hottest buzz in the spa world - could it be right for you?
With the recent legalization of marijuana in Michigan, we are now faced with many new opportunities to explore the various products now available, some of which have some fantastic health and wellness properties.
However there continues to be much confusion and misinformation floating about that may give you the wrong impression about CBD oil and its benefits or uses. You have seen "CBD Sold Here" signs plastered all over, but what does it mean? Is it liquid marijuana? Can I get stoned from it? Do I need a medical marijuana card to buy it?
Much of the confusion comes from the fact CBD (cannabidiol) oil comes from cannabis, which some may associate with the intoxicating effects of THC found in marijuana. However the CBD molecule is a safe, non-addictive substance, that is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids,” which are unique to cannabis and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile.
Both CBD and THC have significant therapeutic attributes. But unlike THC, CBD does not make a person feel “stoned” or intoxicated. That’s because CBD and THC act in different ways on different receptors in the brain and body.
Many people are seeking alternatives to pharmaceuticals with harsh side effects – medicine more in sync with natural processes. By tapping into how we function biologically on a deep level, CBD can provide relief for chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression and many other conditions. Regardless of how many wonderful benefits are available with CBD infused products, know that not all are created the same. CBD extracts sold in the U.S. can fall into one of two categories. Crystalline isolate exclusively contains CBD, as other cannabinoids have been removed; full spectrum oil, on the other hand, retains THC and other cannabinoids, and is only sold in states where marijuana use has been legalized. Also your average hemp oil is not the same as CBD oil (also derived from hemp), so be sure to do your homework when making any purchases to ensure you are getting the quality product that you are looking for.
When it comes to massage, the CBD products we use in our services are of the highest concentration allowed for over the counter use and have no chemicals or preservatives, are non-psychoactive and won’t cause any euphoric or otherwise adverse side effects. The use of the oil over the whole body will have a systemic effect on not just pain and sore muscles, but on stress, mood, and sleep. We also have a spot-specific CBD Muscle Freeze for much deeper penetration and a cooling effect for specific areas that are tight or sore.
Of course, this treatment may not be the miracle cure for you, but we have had nothing but positive feedback from all of our clients that have tried a CBD infused massage. Even my husband who has suffered from chronic pain for the better part of a decade after a car accident, has experienced huge improvement from integrating CBD massage and supplements, so it may too work for you. Feel free to inquire for more info, or give it a try on your next visit!
